Fig. 11. Distribution of coal deposits in South Korea. Most of the coal deposits are anthracite deposits, except some deposits located in the Gyeongju-Yeongil area (lignite) and Changgi area (subbituminous). Since the cut-off grade of coal deposits for REE production is quite low (more than 115ppm), precise analysis for REE concentration should be done for all available deposits (modified after Park, 1992).
